The Shule Way


All children have a right to a world-class education.

  • Our schools will operate primarily in rural villages expanding the reach and accessibility of a superior education to children living outside the major urban areas.
  • We give 600 academically capable marginalized students full scholarships funded by our cost-sharing model, eliminating the need for outside sponsorship. Students on scholarship receive all they need to succeed including 3 meals a day.
  • We offer financial assistance to every scholarship recipient through the completion of his or her education – be it university or technical and vocational training.

Education means more than just building schools and classrooms.

  • We will create an environment of inclusion to break down the cultural divide and help level the playing field.
  • We will allow children to grow by stepping beyond the basics–through exposure to the arts, music, and other extracurricular activities.

We will work with local government agencies to improve school management.

  • Shule schools are designed to reach self-sustainability after the first year of operating.
  • Schools consist of many classrooms that separate the grades, and not one room where everyone learns together.
  • We’re building fully-equipped modern libraries, computer labs and science laboratories.

Teachers are our heroes and deserve the tools to succeed.

  • Teachers will have access to development seminars and workshops.  All teachers must be proficient in English.
  • Teachers will be well compensated and will be provided with housing, two meals a day, and health insurance.
  • We’ve enacted a “shadowing program” that will allow other educators to observe and learn from Shule’s exceptional teaching staff.

Good ideas are meant to be shared.

  • Our adaptable curriculum will be made available for other learning institutions to access through tablets and the internet.
  • Our curriculum is easy-to-duplicate and scalable. It is adaptable for the needs of any region.

African students learn best from African teachers

  • We believe that the best teachers for Africans are Africans.
  • Local teachers who understand the needs of their community are key to the success of students.

Cost-sharing model and other fee-generating programs

  • Each student's family will be required to contribute either financially or in-kind, in whatever way they can.
  • Schools will generate income from the sale of produce and dairy products not utilized by the school.
  • Income will also be generated through services offered though our vocational and technical training school (i.e auto repair, electrical repair, etc.), community services (rental of school bus, rental of property for events, etc.), and sale of livestock.
